Bringing Cloud and hybrid solutions to the next level

Seamless Integration between

Now, most of the companies moving their business applications to the cloud, companies should also choose a cloud platform for their developments. This choice isn’t simple because most companies use business applications from multiple vendors. And companies want to combine their strength in their own practice. In most cases, companies end-up with cloud platforms from different vendors. SAP AG recognizes this, and SAP reinvents its cloud platform strategy. SAP offers now an agnostic cloud platform that runs on all major cloud platform vendors, including Microsoft. SAP and Microsoft work now together on seamless integration between their products. NL for Business believes their approach and built up the knowledge. We can help you to realize the best-of-both world solutions and bring success within your company. Let’s meet and talk how we can help you.

SAP’s decision to select Microsoft Azure as its preferred partner deepens the relationship between our two companies in a differentiated way and signals a shared commitment to fostering the growth of the cloud ecosystem.

The Embrace Initiative

Running S/4HANA & SAP Cloud Platform on Microsoft Azure

On the SAPPhire in May 2019, SAP, together with Microsoft, Google, AWS announced project Embrace to help their customers to move their on-premise editions of SAP ERP to SAP S/4HANA. Just before the SAP Teched in October 2019, SAP, together with Microsoft, launched the first joined Embrace package. This package includes the move to S/4HANA on Azure, joined support, and reference architecture to use integrated SAP and Microsoft products.

With the help of NL for Business, you can get even more value out of Embrace. We can help you with independent advice, knowledge sharing, and custom build development. So you can run the best and most innovative custom applications to your own processes and get the maximum value out of SAP Cloud Platform and Azure.

Azure Active Directory & SAP Identity Authentication Service

Single sign-on for all your SAP and Microsoft apps, on-premise and cloud

SAP supports for years single sign-on for its on-premise products. And with SAP support for the Microsoft proprietary Kerberos/SPNego protocol, it was easy to use your windows login to access SAP applications without re-authenticate. But in cloud space, we can not use proprietary protocols anymore. In the cloud, you use single sign-on based on open standards like OAuth and SAML 2.0. And next to authentication, we also need authorization.

For on-premise products, Windows Server Active Directory handles this for a corporate network and Microsoft products. But what for the cloud or hybrid landscapes? Microsoft brought Active Directory product to the cloud, added the cloud capabilities, and called it Azure Active Directory. Azure Active Directory becomes the agnostic corporate identity provider in a hybrid landscape that supports both Microsoft Windows and Azure Cloud.

But what about accessing SAP Cloud Products like SAP Cloud Platform, SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud, SAP Ariba, and SAP SuccessFactors? In a single sign-on scenario, you also want to include those applications. It is precisely what SAP Cloud Identity Service (Identity Authentication Service) does. It will bridge public and corporate identity providers to SAP Cloud products. And in the case of Azure Active Directory, you need to identify only once and can access all applications from SAP and Microsoft.

At NL for Business, we built the knowledge around SAP Cloud Identity Service and Microsoft Azure to realize this single sign-on for SAP and Microsoft.

SAP Data Seamless IntegratED in your Microsoft Applications

Your SAP data direct accessible in your Azure and Office 365 apps

Use Excel as the frontend of your SAP applications

For decades, Microsoft Excel, a spreadsheet programma, is one of the leading tools for data analyses and reporting. It is easy to use, has a lot of built-in functions, and the capability to validate and process data and easy to share with other people. For all these reasons, people like Excel and use it on top of the SAP data. But in the past, it was hard to keep the data in sync with the SAP system. Duet was the first joined effort to overcome this problem, and the product provided some prefilled scenarios.

In the current version of Excel, it becomes much easier to keep the data in sync. SAP uses OData as its restful API layer, and Microsoft added a build-in feature in Excel for Windows to connect to and refresh of OData services for reading. Excel spreadsheets can share without restrictions, and users with the right authorization can renew the data whenever they want. Other operations like creating, updating, and deleting of SAP records are also possible but need some little programming.

NL for Business has this knowledge and can help you to get the best-integrated spreadsheets.

Interact with SAP bots using virtual agents in Microsoft Teams

Microsoft Teams is a unified communication and collaboration platform for corporate organizations running Microsoft Office 368 on Microsoft Azure. It the one-stop workplace for persistent chat, video meetings, file storage, and collaboration on office application. The chat integration with Power Virtual Agents brings interaction with SAP applications to the next level.

Now it’s possible to integrate SAP connected bots directly into Teams. This integration will speed up and improves the collaboration and communication about realtime SAP data and gives direct value to your employees and business partners. If you want to profit from SAP bots in Teams and need some help, please let us know.

We are happy to share our knowledge and make your SAP bots a success.

Integrate SAP in Microsoft Power low-code apps and automate flows

Microsoft Power Platform provides low code tooling to create simple UIs with Power Apps, run simple flows with Power Automate, and interact with bots using Power Virtual Agents. SAP data, through OData-enabled APIs, is directly accessible in all tools and even ‘classic’ SAP business suite data through an SAP RFC connector.

The Power platform is NL for Business choice for low-code development on top of SAP, and we are happy to help you improve your processes and user experiences.

Build your own SAP APPlications
And integrate Microsoft Cloud Services

Unlock Microsoft 365 and Azure Cloud using Microsoft Graph APIs

In the SAP domain, you develop your applications with SAP tooling. But until now, it was hard to build SAP applications enriched with Microsoft resources on your own. That was a pity because most company process flow uses Microsoft tooling to collect and approve data that ends in SAP applications. And in some processes, persistent SAP data is reported and shared with Microsoft tooling again.

With Microsoft applications moving to the cloud, this integration between SAP Application and Microsoft Cloud Service becomes much more straightforward. Microsoft combined their most common APIs from Azure Cloud, Microsoft 365, Office 365, Windows 10, Enterprise Security, and Enterprise Mobility into one unified programmability model using one API endpoint and named it Microsoft Graph. Microsoft Graph provides multiple SDK, including these for NodeJS and Java, which can be used for programming your applications on the SAP Cloud Platform. For example, SAP CAP or MTA application can combine the Microsoft Graph SDK with the SAP Cloud SDK to facilitate fully integrated processes.

But not only the SAP cloud is supported. Microsoft also offers an ABAP SDK for Azure that provides libraries written in ABAP, which integrate natively with Microsoft Cloud Service on Azure. This ABAP SDK removes the boundaries for using Microsoft data in any on-premise SAP system, including S/4HANA and Business Suite systems.

NL for Business has already build integrated applications with the APIs and SDKs and happy to share their knowledge and help you to build the most innovative applications with SAP and Microsoft
